About

As one of the largest chapters, we are constantly looking at pathways to engage our diverse volunteer base so that everyone can develop and contribute their skills at a pace that fits their capacity. We have a wide range of initiatives you can be part of: mentoring, remote volunteering, fundraising, organising professional development workshops and participating in cultural awareness training sessions. Our best asset is our volunteers, so get in touch with us to find out how you can get involved!

We acknowledge and pay our respects to the traditional custodians of the lands and waters of NSW, and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, past, present and emerging.

What We Do

Local Partnership – SkillME Project

The Local Partnership Program facilitates meaningful and lasting change for underserved communities in Australia by addressing challenges relating to lack of access to engineering services and resources. Through our partnership with SkillME Project, an employment support program for job seekers from migrant and refugee backgrounds, we work collaboratively to improve employment outcomes for clients who are skilled in engineering and IT. As part of this program, you will be supporting migrant and refugee engineers to put their best foot forward in job applications.

Engineering on Country

The Engineering on Country Program develops and enlivens mutual understanding, respect, and equal opportunities shared between our First Nations communities and the engineering sector. Through facilitating Cultural Awareness Training sessions for volunteers and organising regular catch ups, we actively decolonise engineering knowledge as well as our understanding of the past. As part of the team, you get to organise fundraisers to support our work on Country and facilitate discussions on our role in reconciliation.

Mobilisation

The Mobilisation Program ensures EWB’s programs and projects have access to appropriate volunteers to support impact delivery. Through remote volunteering, volunteers come together to form project teams and address a brief scoped by the communities and partners we work with. As part of the program, you can collaborate with other volunteers and apply your skills for a meaningful cause.

EWB Games

The EWB Games are an annual small-sided soccer tournament that welcomes university students, engineers and corporate partners to participate and raise funds for Engineers Without Borders Australia. The funding supports various EWB initiatives including overseas volunteer placements, school outreach programs, cultural awareness training, and working with our local communities.

Professional Development

The chapter conducts study tours and workshops with students and professionals to learn about the practical uses of technology to improve the lives of others. Workshops provide participants with networking opportunities to hear like-minded perspectives on the future of engineering.
